There was a time -- I admit -- where all rules were off when I was home after work, in for the night, cooking dinner and watching a movie. Hair? Up in a messy bun or low pony like a Founding Father. Skin? Red from scrubbing it clean. But the clothing choices were probably the most shameful, as my loungewear was really just old clothes that had tiny holes, rips, or stains on them that I couldn't bear to throw away.
There have been a lot of studies recently that show how setting intention in what you do, along with an organized and clean environment, leads to more success and productivity. That's why, even when I'm home for the night and feel like being a hobbit, I now spend time setting intention into taking time for myself to feel cozy, cute and comfortable, and prioritize the relaxing moments I can have after a long day's work! And, because we're all about sharing the love and pro-tips here, I've gone ahead and outlined just how small these moments can be and how they can still make you feel great!
1) Cozy Sweats & an Essentials Oil Diffuser
My go-to lounge pants right now are Wildfox Starlight Joggers
, which are slouchy yet still slim enough where you're not being eaten alive by XXXL Mens Sweatpants from ten years ago. Just a personal opinion here, but don't sweatpants always feel more cozy when they're in gray? I love throwing these on with a soft tee and turning on an Essentials Oil Diffuser, which, if you haven't ordered one yet, make any space smell like a spa. My favorite blend for nighttime is Lavender or Rosemary!
2) Glass of Wine and Breathable Shorts
Let's face it -- summer in Colorado can go from rainy and windy one night, to stuffy and 95 degrees the next night. For hot nights where I'm watching Bachelorette with a face mask, I always reach for Wildfox Daisy Cut Off Shorts
and a glass of rose. Having wine isn't a defeat for me at the end of the day, if anything it's a celebration that I get an hour to sit on the couch and mindlessly zone out while still feeling like myself!
3) Meditation/Yoga and Lightweight Joggers
Disclaimer: in no way am I a meditation OR yoga guru. Most of the time spent meditating is spent thinking about all the things I have to do when I'm done meditating. Still, winding down with a little mental closure or light stretching and poses may sound luxurious, but only takes about five minutes! I love to use Laundry Room Elevens Sweat Pants
for these activities, because they're lightweight and still soft and breathable.
4) Walking the Dog with a Podcast & Cozy Sweatshirt
Anyone else up for Oprah's Supersoul Conversations and an evening stroll? Winding down with a little light walk and good conversation always feels like the best way for me to close down the day and get some extra steps in. My go-to choice for this is Wildfox Fire Camo Junior Sweatshirt
, which isn't your ex-boyfriend's zip up. It's fitted enough to still know you have a body and loose enough where bra is optional -- all I need to know about really any piece of clothing that comes my way.
